There was a 5 month delay in Paragon paying my refund due to the amount of claims they were paying out and BT wanted their fee immediatly - I even received legal action notifications from them. The Ministry of Justice did buggar all to get them to wind their necks in, it was decidied they were in the right to demand their fee. The details of my claim are the same as all the others, so I will not waste time repeating it all. These firms are supposed to be licenced by the Ministry of Justice.

I have refused to pay these criminals and referred a formal complaint to the Ministry of Justice who sadly have been slow to process. In spite of advising them in writing, by email and over the phone multiple times that I am not satisfied, and that they have not done any work to justify their fee, they still pursue me for payment, using a collections agency which my better instincts having worked for similar fraudsters in the past suggest is probably internal to them.

I informed them at the beginning that their fee's were totally over the top for the service they provided and asked for them to stop the claim. They told me that I could stop the claim but that there would be a fee for that and it could possibly be higher than what the 'winning fee' would be. So I reluctantly let them carry on as I felt that if I did chose to cancel - I would not be able to afford the fee.
I was told that any payout would go straight to my debts and that I would be respnsible for the fee's. I am in a situation now where they are about to send a debt collector to the door. No success so far. The Ministry of Justice are at least as incompetent though in their case I think it is incompetence rather than malicious malpractice.
In the end I paid name removed who I strongly suspect is Belmont Thornton under another name based on the amount of detail the guy on the other end of the phone had to hand. I opted to pursue this at a time of my own choosing- I suspect that a submission to small claims court will be enough to get the money back in the end- it is not a contract under English law unless Offer, Acceptance and Consideration are all in place, and by refusing to pay due to dissatisfaction, the requirement for Consideration is failed.
Mean time I have threatened the Ministry of Justice that I will take them to the European Court if they persist in ignoring my emails. The so called caseworker only sent an instruction to BT to stop chasing payment so 3 weeks after I had paid in spite of me making very clear by email that I had 6 days to avoid a court appearance- sure I could have won in court, or I could have got some judge who always favours corporations, so didn't want to take that chance in that particular type of court where the judge will be more used to dealing with debt issues than contractual ones.
Inform the Ministry of Justice- its a case of harassment if they have done nothing to justify the fee. Phone the bank's appropriate department and get them to confirm that BT have done no work as regards the claim- as you'll see above they were quite frank in telling me that the only calls ever made regarding the claim were by myself- in fact by not answering my questionns properly BT actually DELAYED my receipt of money- until I'd made another payment and a recalculation was necessary.
Quote the time, phone number and person spoken to, to the Ministry of Justice, and if need by they, or any court if BT are stupid enough to pursue payment in that way, can listen to the call as evidence.
They may continue to pursue as they never believe a case is with M of J until those guys actually phone them and tell them to stop pursuing, but with such blatant evidence they run a high risk not only of being ordered to compensate you for harassment etc as well as the fees being quashed, but heavy fines from the ministry, and even a ban on operating in a similar line of business if similar cases are found, which given the fact that all these comments are still stand, they are clearly all true and compatible with UK libel laws, and these bandits should be hung as high as we can build the gallows.
I agree with all the other people this company is the most un-reliable and diss honest company I have come accross. They never answer your emails, when you ring they tell you that they dont take phone calls?!! I used a letter template and sent the claim to Barclaycard, receiving the same response, only I followed up the refusal with further communication resulting in a claim via the FCA. A while later after receiving many letters for money I was issued a court summons, I wrote back to the court defending the claim as I felt Belmont had not earned their money.
Today I have received a letter from the court saying that the case will be referred to the small claims track, I need to respond to this court letter within 14 days, is there anyone that can advise me of my rights here if any I thought it was a no brainer but Belmont have solicitors onto this?

Can you post up the particulars of claim and your defence removing any personal details?

Re: Belmont Thornton Court Order There's no term in the agreement regarding monthly payments either just checked in case that's where that had come from I can't read the small print on the authorisation form you signed. However their fees are based on the offer before tax is deducted which I didn't realise.
I was so upset to have to pay this percentage. They are holding the claim for long This company needs to be stopped and NOW. Asked them to deal on my behalf. Shortly after I received a letter saying that the PPI company would not deal with them direct and I would have to pursue it. I called them in order to get the address they had sent the original enquiry to and I might as well have talked to the wall.
Had to look up the address on Google and hope it was correct. I had to send 4 letters to the PPI company myself and get the Ombudsman involved. I think law will come back at these to repay too in the future! I wish I had read this review sooner. I think this is disgusting. After all it's me that has been mis sold and got 2 defaults against me all because the PPI I was sold wasn't worth the paper it was written on. Then this company rip me off even worse.
Can we get compensation for being ripped off by claims companies who charge these fees. Do not use. I had to keep chasing them about my claim which took ages. I have now received a letter demanding money for a successful claim from back in which they are saying they haven't been paid for. Im sure I've paid it as I remember them hounding me for payment.

They have been demanding payment for a fee that I have not received. After a number of final demand emails, they have now sent my details to a debt collector. I called the Ministry of Justice today. How is this company conning so many.
